Texas football is back.

The Longhorns open the 2024-25 season at Darrell K Royal Memorial Stadium against Colorado State. After an appearance in the College Football Playoff, Texas is ranked No. 4 in the U.S. LBM Coaches Poll. Whether they earn that ranking will be decided over the course of the season, but the season opener will set the tone.

Texas is a heavy favorite. However, Georgia Tech’s recent upset of No. 10 Florida State is still fresh in fans’ minds. During Monday’s press conference, coach Steve Sarkisian said the Rams’ 2023 record doesn’t accurately reflect the level they’ve played at.

“I know they were 5-7 last year, but there were a lot of close games that could have gone either way,” Sarkisian said.
