Former Nebraska football quarterback Adrian Martinez started the New York Jets’ final preseason game on Saturday. He closed out the Jets’ preseason slate in style, leading them to a 10-6 victory over the New York Giants.

Martinez went 12-20 on the night, throwing for 99 yards. He also showed his dual-threat ability, rushing the ball three times for 23 yards. While he didn’t throw a touchdown pass, he still showed his ability to be effective on the field.

It’s been a whirlwind football journey for Martinez, who was recently named USFL MVP in June. Now he’s trying to seize another opportunity in the NFL. Martinez spent last year with the Detroit Lions but was ultimately cut on August 29.

Meanwhile, Martinez completed this preseason run for 270 total yards, including an interception. Still, he had a strong final game on a Jets team that will soon be looking to the future at the quarterback position.
