Piastri soon came under pressure from Charles Leclerc that flew by Sergio Perez to fifth place, but managed to maintain his position.

On the other side of the grid, penalty kicks Lewis Hamilton climbed to P12 as he had the advantage of starting on the soft tyres, giving him an advantage over the other medium runners.

Another early winner was the Alps by Pierre Gaslywho had an incredible start and the Aston Martins by Lance Walk And Fernando Alonso.

However, as Carlos Sainz made his way into the top ten Gasly lost his hard-earned P7 to the faster Ferrariafter a fair but exciting battle on the track.

Although Norris’ race looked over as soon as the lights went out, he slowly closed in on Verstappen and made a stunning overtake on the inside of Turn 1 to take the lead on lap 18.

The Dutchman tried to stay with Norris, but the McLaren star looked increasingly comfortable as he opened up a five-second lead over the Red Bull for their round pit stops.
