UFC Vegas 96 Results: Biggest Winners and Losers from Last Night’s ‘Cannonier vs. Borralho’

UFC Vegas 96 took place last night (Sat., August 24, 2024) at UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, with Caio Borralho loss Jared Gunner via unanimous decision (summary here). In the co-main event, Tabatha Ricci achieved a huge victory over Angela Hillalso by unanimous decision.

Biggest winner: Caio Borralho

The Top 10 gets a new member next week as Borralho secured one of the biggest wins of his career by defeating Cannonier in five rounds. In doing so, he extended his win streak to 14 in a row and brought his record to 17-1-1. Given that he is currently ranked #12 and Cannonier is #5, “The Natural” could very well take the spot where “Killa Gorilla” once was. He is a legitimate threat and an up-and-coming contender that could be making a title challenge sooner rather than later.

Second place: Michael Morales

Like Borralho after him, Morales also achieved one of the biggest victories of his career by knocking out the experienced player, Neil Magnyvia first-round technical knockout (TKO) with just 25 seconds left in the round. Morales moves his unblemished record to 17-0, 5-0 UFC and could find himself in the Top 15. After all, he just made mincemeat of the No. 12 contender in the division. He also received a $50,000 post-fight bonus for his efforts.

Honorable Mentions: Ryand Loder & Mairon Santos

We need to give love to the new winners of Ultimate Fighter (TUF) because Ryan Loder And Mairon Santos became the winner of TUF 32 after earning two consecutive TKO victories over Robert Valentine And Kaan Oflirespectively, both in the second round. Now the two men can complete their lifelong journey to one day fight for the title after signing “six-figure contracts.”

Biggest Loser: Victoria Leonardo

Leonardo can’t seem to gain any momentum inside the Octagon. She began her UFC career with two straight technical knockout losses, a submission victory over Mandy Bohm that was then followed by back-to-back TKO losses, including her most recent dispatching last night in “Sin City.” With a record of 1-4 in her first five UFC fights — all via TKO — she has set herself up as a leading candidate to receive her dismissal in the next round of cuts, especially since her last setback lasted just 62 seconds.
