Four people – including a police officer – were injured in a violent stabbing incident near Sydney, Australia.

According to New South Wales Police, officers were called to the scene of a crash at an intersection in Engadine, Australia on Sunday morning local time.

When police arrived on the scene, they found a 55-year-old man who appeared to have stab wounds and who ran from the scene of the accident.

Authorities captured him and used a taser during his arrest.

According to authorities, a male police officer suffered a “serious” cut to his left wrist during the incident.

Police said the woman, who was a passenger in the crashed vehicle, was found with multiple stab wounds.

A fourth person was also injured, but police say it is still unclear what their involvement in the incident is.

All four people were treated at the scene by ambulance personnel.
