Emily Ratajkowski has a fitting response to a stranger’s rude comment

It seems like a random guy in New York City hasn’t adopted the “mind your own business” mentality yet, but Emily Ratajkowski sure has.

On Tuesday, the model decided to hit the streets of the Big Apple in a gray tank top, black pants and glasses, as seen in this photo of her walking her adorable pooch:

Sure, she’s got some cleavage and a little bit of exposed hip bone, but in a city that used to have a No Pants Subway Ride day every January, Emily’s look wasn’t extreme.

According to a video Emily posted to social media, it appears that a passerby found her outfit far too revealing and decided to let her know that he didn’t like it.

“Girl, put on a shirt,” the rando can be heard saying to the My Body author as she walks down the sidewalk.

While Emily was smart enough not to respond to the man in real time, she did make it clear in her message what she thought of the encounter.

In the video, after the man made his rude comment, Emily edited in a portion of the song 365 from Charli XCX’s latest album, Brat.

The lyrics of the song in the video are “Who the fuck are you? I’m a brat when I’m bumpin’ that” — which could mean that Emily is just being a brat (or authentically herself) and doesn’t care what this person thinks of her.

Her caption on the video is also telling: “Famously not demure, famously not attentive” — a play on the super-viral “very demure, very attentive” meme.

“Your modesty is what it means to you. It’s being mindful and considerate of the people around you, but also of yourself and how you present yourself to the world,” Jools Lebron, the TikToker behind the meme, explained to CBC News.

Emily’s caption may also be a sarcastic response to the criticism the model has received for her provocative sense of style.

In December 2017, Piers Morgan criticized Emily for participating in a lingerie video shoot she did for Love magazine.

“This is Emily Ratajkowski ‘promoting feminism’. Somewhere Emmeline Pankhurst just threw up,” the British broadcaster wrote on social media, referring to the British suffragette. Piers also called Emily a “global bimbo” on an episode of Good Morning Britain at the time.

Emily wrote back in response: “Lol I never said my love video was a feminist statement. But now it’s worth saying that telling women what to do with their bodies and sexuality is just plain old sexism. I can have an opinion on feminism and do sexy photoshoots too, thanks.”

In January 2024, the model shared an Instagram slideshow of herself in a low-cut dress, writing, “I’ve decided I’ll never beat the bimbo accusations so why not lean in a little more ya know?”
