At the intersection of payments, AI, and marketing, OneText makes shopping as effortless as paying with your hotel room number. Shoppers literally respond and buy with a single text message. Fast-growing ecommerce brands use our SMS to buy payments and sales concierge to drive up to 30% more sales. We replace conventional SMS marketing with two-way conversations that delight shoppers and inspire them to buy more.

We are backed by rock stars like Y Combinator, Coatue, Citi Ventures, Khosla Ventures, the founders of Warby Parker, Allbirds and Harry’s and Matt Bellamy, the lead singer of Muse.

The role

As Chief of Staff at OneText, you will work directly with our founders: Jonathan Fudem, CEO, and Daniel Brain, CTO.

How to apply

Main Responsibilities

  • Everything & Everything
  • Strategy & Operations
  • Collaborate with CEO, CTO and the entire team
  • Financial modeling and planning
  • Investor updates, team memos and communications with clients, suppliers and lawyers
  • Oversee incentive-based compensation for the Sales and Success team
  • Running HR software (Gusto, Rippling, Sling, etc.)
  • Shorten long documents
  • The CEO’s extended brain and hands are

Required skills

  • Experience in a fast-growing startup or technology company
  • Knowledge of multiple functions, such as strategy, operations, finance and HR.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to use data to support decision making.
  • Being able to make it up as you go. You have to be comfortable with ambiguity!
  • Fast learning and excellent at making complex tasks smaller and faster
  • Extreme honesty
  • Willingness to work during US Black Friday/Cyber ​​Monday week (the Super Bowl for our industry)

We are two former leaders of the PayPal Checkout team (engineering and product). We just received pre-seed funding for our new startup we launched earlier this year and are looking for an engineer to join our team!

Our goal is simple: make it possible to pay with your phone number anywhere, anytime, without any friction. We have a lot of cool ways to make that work, and a lot of brands are already using our platform.

What we do: Payments, vaulting, automated conversations, and merchant-facing dashboards. Plus a whole bunch of cool stuff in between.

Key Skill: Good communication skills and fast learning. It doesn’t matter if you haven’t used all the technologies mentioned above, as long as you’re a fast learner and like to jump into new things quickly.

Experience Level: Any. As long as you can program, if we like you and you are a good fit, we will find a role for you.

Expectations: It’s a startup and we just got accepted into YCombinator 2023. So it’s going to be busy, there’s no way around it. But we want to create a great engineering culture that encourages innovation, learning, and mentorship. We want to teach, and we want to learn from you too.

Location: We both live in California (Bay Area) and are open to remote work anywhere in the US. We may also be able to arrange work from outside the US in the form of a contract position, but we will give priority to those who live in the US.

Salary: Completely dependent on experience and skills. Equality on the table. (Apologies for the vagueness here. Our plan is to create the role and compensation around the candidate we think is the best fit)
