The sister of the prime suspect, Sanjoy Roy, in the rape and murder of the resident physician of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, revealed that she has not spoken to her brother for 17 years. According to her, the two have not visited each other for years.

“I haven’t spoken to him for 17 years. He hasn’t visited me and I haven’t visited him. I haven’t seen him for years. So I can’t say anything about it… My father wasn’t ready for my suitor, he had told me that he would cut all ties with me if I got married here. So after that there were no more relations,” she told ANI.

According to Roy’s sister, he was a normal child.

“I never saw anything strange… He was a police officer (volunteer), so he would sometimes have a day shift or sometimes a night shift. So I never saw him… I never heard anything about him being in a fight or anything… I don’t know if he did anything,” she said.

The suspect’s sister added that if he committed the crime, she will accept any punishment imposed on him.

“If he did something, I will accept whatever punishment is given to him. It is very wrong if he did this to a girl,” she said.

Roy was arrested a day after the body of the 31-year-old female junior doctor was found half-naked in the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College. The accused was seen entering the building around the estimated time of the crime and his Bluetooth headset was found near the crime scene.

On August 8 at 11:00, CCTV footage showed Roy walking around the thoracic ward. On August 9 at 4:00, CCTV footage showed him entering the same building.

According to police, the crime took place between 3 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The investigation revealed that Roy had severely abused and sexually assaulted the doctor, after which he killed her by strangling and suffocating her.

Psychoanalytic profiling of Roy

Roy’s psychoanalytic profiling has revealed that he is a “pervert and severely addicted to pornography”, a CBI official said, PTI reported. According to the official, the man has an “animal instinct” and showed no remorse for the gruesome murder at the state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital during interrogation.

The CBI official further told PTI that Sanjay Roy showed no remorse for the crime that had sparked national outrage. He narrated the entire crime to the investigating agency without any hesitation, he added.
