EASTENDERS star Natalie Cassidy has hinted at a possible exit following Sonia Fowler’s shock arrest.

Natalie, 41, has played the role of Sonia on and off since her BBC debut in 1993.

In Thursday’s (August 22) episode of the BBC soap, the nurse was accused of murdering Debbie (Jenny Meier).

When asked if Sonia could be spared from a prison stint and exit, Natalie teasingly replied, “Who knows? But she has a lot of champions there on the Square…”

The actress described the situation to the press as “the worst nightmare come true” for her character.

Natalie added: “She absolutely can’t believe it, especially since Reiss was released because he has an alibi.”

Viewers know that Reiss (Jonny Freeman), Sonia’s partner, cold-bloodedly murdered his comatose wife Debbie in order to dismantle her expensive care home accounts.
