KUALA LUMPUR: The court in this case has temporarily allowed Naimah Khalid, the wife of former Finance Minister Daim Zainuddin, to surrender her passport so she can travel to China for work.

Judge Azura Alwi granted the request after Deputy Public Prosecutor Fadhly Zamri informed the court that the Public Prosecution Service had no objection to the request.

Her lawyer Nizamuddin Abdul Hamid told the court that his client wanted a temporary release of her passport for travel between August 28 and September 9.

He added that Naimah will surrender her passport to the court upon her return.

The court had previously released Naimah’s passport for travel to Europe.

Earlier this year, Naimah filed a complaint in court for failing to comply with the terms of an Asset Declaration Notice under the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Act (MACC).

She was accused of failing to declare her ownership of businesses, several plots of land here and in Penang and two vehicles.

Naimah was granted a lump sum bail of RM250,000. Her passport was surrendered to the court as part of her bail conditions.
