Laguna Beach’s Nyjah Huston Skateboards Around Paris With Bronze Medal – NBC Los Angeles

What’s better than skateboarding in Paris? How about skateboarding in Paris with a bronze medal you just won at the Olympics?

That’s what Laguna Beach’s Nyjah Huston did Monday after winning bronze in a highly competitive men’s street final in the French capital. Huston posted a POV video of himself skating down a Parisian street, bronze medal in hand, in a moment of solitude after being in the spotlight.

Team USA’s Jagger Eaton and Nyjah Huston took a podium finish behind Japan’s Yuto Horigome. Both skaters spoke about their performances after the event.

No words needed.

“That was a good moment for me,” Huston said. “After all the media, getting it done, getting tested, I was just out there skating on the streets and really enjoying the moment. That video really brought out the real street skateboarder in me.

“I was meant to be a skateboarder, and I’m so grateful that I’m a skateboarder. Of course, it’s great to get these kinds of things, but just being able to live a life doing what we love most is the most beautiful thing.”

Huston finished third (279.38) behind his American teammate Jagger Eaton (281.04) from Cardiff. Japan’s Yuto Horigome (281.14) successfully defended his gold medal.

The 29-year-old Huston did better than his seventh place in Tokyo.
