Sanju Samson is having a tough time in the T20I series against Sri Lanka. After being benched in the first match, he replaced Shubman Gill in the second. The right-handed batsman was dismissed for a golden duck. However, it did not affect the Men in Blue as the visitors won the match by 7 wickets.

Gautam Gambhir and Suryakumar Yadav gave him another chance in the third and final game; however, the result was the same as the wicketkeeper batter returned without troubling the scorers after four deliveries. Samson has registered three ducks in just 11 innings as a keeper. He is behind Rishabh Pant, who leads the charts with four ducks in 54 innings.

He was selected in India’s squad for the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup but Rishabh Pant was preferred over him. Sanju played a couple of matches in the five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe and showed his class but he came up short against Sri Lanka.

Time is running out for the batter as the selectors, head coach and Suryakumar Yadav might go for a new player given the strength of the bench. Samson has been in good form for Rajasthan Royals in IPL but has yet to score runs in international cricket.
