Sam Burgess led Warrington Wolves to the top of the Super League with a huge 40-4 victory over Wigan Warriors last week and has now reportedly agreed a contract extension with the club.

The Warrington Wolves boss had spoken to The Daily Telegraph and when asked in that interview about the prospects of a return to the NRL, he revealed that talks had been held about extending his two-year contract.

Sam Burgess explained: “It’s important that I spend time here. I’m only nine months into my coaching career. There are discussions at the moment about adding another year.”

According to Heppenstall, talks have now progressed to the point where a new deal has been agreed, with Burgess reportedly eligible for a third year at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, extending his stay until the end of the 2026 season.
