Not Wasim Akram! Mohsin Naqvi names legendary pacer as Pakistan Cricket’s new decision maker

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi has taken a big decision to improve cricket in Pakistan. According to reports in the Pakistani media, it has been revealed that the board chief has handed over the cricket affair to former captain Waqar Younis.

It has been reported that Mohsin Naqvi will give Waqar Younis a key position in the Pakistan Cricket Board. The former captain will be in charge of all matters related to cricket in Pakistan. Naqvi, on the other hand, will see all administrative matters and will not be involved in cricket.

Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has given his all to make cricket in Pakistan better. He has taken big steps after the team’s debacle in the 2024 T20 World Cup. The board chairman said that he would conduct a surgery on the team and since then he has taken quite a few bold steps.

Following his statement, the Pakistan Cricket Board dismissed Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq from the team’s selection committee and handed over the powers to head coaches Gary Kirsten and Jason Gillespie.

As if this was not enough, the Pakistan Cricket Board also denied giving NOCs to Naseem Shah, Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Rizwan to play in the overseas league. He also said that they will not tolerate any indiscipline in the team.

Pakistan Cricket Board has also been working hard to improve cricket at grassroots level. The past few months have been tough for the Pakistan national cricket team as they have been performing well below par and have been criticized for their poor performance, especially in the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Pakistan, who were finalists of the last T20 World Cup, were facing a group stage elimination in the 2024 T20 World Cup. They suffered a chaotic defeat against the United States of America in the league stage and then also lost to the Indian national cricket team, thus getting eliminated from the tournament in the group stage.

Pakistan cricket team will next face Bangladesh

Pakistan National Cricket Team will be in action next in the Test series against Bangladesh National Cricket Team. The team led by Shan Masood will host the opponent in the two-match Test series in August-September this year and it will be a great opportunity for them to start things fresh.

The series will be played from August 21 to September 3. There have been recent reports that there will be some major changes in the squad as some big names will be dropped altogether and the Pakistan Cricket Board is looking to bring in new faces in the team.

The likes of Faheem Ashraf, Mohammad Wasim Jr, Saim Ayub and Nauman Ali are unlikely to retain their places in the team for the two-match Test series. It is also learnt that youngsters like Mohammad Huraira and Sahibzada Farhan are likely to be included in the team.
