In Saturday’s match against England, Ireland jumped out to a 6-3 lead in the first two periods, before England cut it to 6-5 at halftime. Ireland then scored four goals to take a 10-5 lead. England scored two goals after the 4-0 run, but it wasn’t enough.

According to worldlacrosse.sport, Darcy Rybinski led Ireland with four goals and two assists, while Emmet McDermott added two goals and three assists. Christopher Burnetta contributed with two goals and two assists. The Irish defense allowed just nine shots on goal the entire game.

Joshua Clegg scored three goals and provided an assist for England.

Ireland dominated the championship, outscoring their opponents 75-26.

Holmes, a senior at Nevada Union High School this coming school year, first auditioned for the team in New York in November and was later invited to a second audition in Dublin, Ireland, in January.

Ethan first became involved with Ireland Lacrosse in 2022. He traveled to Limerick, Ireland for the Men’s World Championships and played on a mixed Irish heritage team, Team Eire, during the festival in conjunction with the championship tournament. He was then invited to apply to be an intern for the Irish Men’s Lacrosse team for the 2023 World Championships in San Diego. He was selected and joined the team for the duration of the tournament and has enjoyed every minute of it.
