PARIS — Japan has won six gold medals at the Paris Olympics, with two more on the fourth day of the Games on Monday. Japan topped the gold medal rankings among all countries and regions on Monday.

The Japanese men’s artistic gymnastics team — consisting of Daiki Hashimoto, Kazuma Kaya, Wataru Tanigawa, Shinnosuke Oka and Takaaki Sugino — won its first gold medal since Rio de Janeiro in 2016. It is the sixth consecutive Olympic Games that Japan has won a medal in the men’s event.

Tokyo Olympic gold medalist Yuto Horigome, 25, took top spot on the podium in men’s street skateboarding. In judo, Soichi Hashimoto, 32, took bronze in the men’s 73-kilogram division and Haruka Funakubo, 25, won the same in the women’s 57-kilogram division, both in repechages.

The Japanese women’s basketball team, which won silver at the Tokyo Games, lost in Group C to the United States, which is chasing its eighth consecutive gold medal in the sport.
